( KNZA )--Hiawatha Police are warning residents of scams circulating in the area.
New Chief of Police John Defore says Publishers Clearinghouse scams are becoming prevalent in the area. He says this is just another scam along with several others that are going around.
Defore reminds residents that no matter what, don’t ever give out money or personal information over the phone to anyone you don’t know.
He says if someone claiming to be your family member calls requesting money, hang up and call that family member to verify that it’s them calling.
Those with questions, are asked to contact the Hiawatha Police Department at 742-2156.
