07/27/2012

(KNZA)--Precautions taken in the City of Horton, due to the dry, drought like conditions, leaves the city continuing to treat surface water, from Mission Lake, to replenish Horton's water supply.

However, the early stages of the process has left the city's water smelling, and tasting, funny(Play Audio)

That's Horton Mayor Tim Lentz who says officials from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment have been on sight in Horton offering assistance for the situation(Play Audio)

The effort began last weekend, following concerns that supplies were not at the best of levels. That was decided during a special Horton City Commission meeting, when a voluntary conservation effort was also put into place.

Although the water is deemed safe, one Horton resident described the current taste as being similar to potting soil.
