07/24/2012

(KNZA)--The Brown County Sheriff's office is one of numerous local and statewide agencies sharing in over 2-million-dollars as part of the 2013 Federal Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program.

Kansas Governor Sam Brownback says the JAG funding helps strengthen partnerships for safe communities while enhancing the state's capacity to prevent, solve and control crime.

The Brown County Sheriff's Office is awarded 6-thousand-738 dollars in the assistance funding in order to update dispatch computers and to establish a data backup and recovery program.

Meanwhile, Leavenworth County's Brothers in Blue Reentry receives 85-thousand-320-dollars to provide drug treatment and prevention and education programs to Lansing Correctional Facility inmates as well as parolees.
