KLZA - On Saturday at the Nemaha County Fair in Auburn, there is going to be a Cattle show for the local County 4-H and open class for the youth. Two outstanding youth members that have dedicated thier time in making a once in a lifetime memory in our of our American War soldiers. These two youth Trace Moody age 11 & Kataleena Helmick youth age 12, each made a Quilt of Valor.
These particular Quilts of Valor are created by 4-H members, choosing what ever pattern they like, or making their own. These quilts are created by the youth and donated to service men and women who are protecting our country and who have been "touched by war". The quilts go on display just once at the local fair, and are automatically entered into the state fair, due to it's uniqueness.
These quilts are collected after the county fair for it's final display in August at State Fair, where there after their much loved quilts are given to one of our finest. These 4-H member will never see their quilts again, and mostly not the recipient. These quilts have tough guide lines that have to be followed, to ensure that the soldiers receive something of nice quality.
The quilt of Valor foundation has already received 36,000 quilts, but these two special quilts are made by hand with love from kids.
