Husker Tight End on Mackey Watch List
Nebraska tight end Kyler Reed continued the parade of honorees, as he was named to the John Mackey Award Watch list on Tuesday. The award, presented to the nation’s top tight end, is named after NFL Hall of Famer John Mackey, features 33 of the top tight ends in college football.
A three-year contributor to the Husker offense, Reed has 43 career catches at Nebraska and has averaged 16.4 yards per catch. In 2011, he led NU with 17.1 yards per reception with 15 catches for 257 yards and a touchdown. As a sophomore, he tied a school position record with eight touchdown receptions, which ranked fourth on Nebraska’s single-season list.
The Mackey Award will announce its 2012 winner at The Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet Show on Dec. 6, in Orlando.
