Missouri FSA Continues Drought Assessment
The Missouri Farm Service office expects to finish gathering information about drought conditions in all counties in the state early next week.
State FSA Director Eddie Hamill says Missouri’s corn crop is in danger without significant rain in the next few days, though he says a few counties aren’t hurting as much as most others. (play audio :26)
Hamill says some areas have received rain, but it’s been spotty and not enough to do significant good. (play audio :18)
While rain is badly needed, Hamill says he’d also gladly take some cooler temperatures. (play audio :29)
Hamill is a pessimist about the corn crop getting the rain it needs, and expects they’ll see losses in some counties exceed 50-percent.
