Doniphan County Tournament Wrap-up
After moving around and cancelling part of the tournament due to weather over the weekend the Doniphan County Tournament wrapped up last night with a third place game between Royal Valley and Seneca and the championship between Rock Creek and Silver Lake.
Seneca took home third place at the tournament, but didn't even play a ballgame as Royal Valley did not have enough players to field a team for the night, thus forfeiting the match. Seneca went 2-1 in the tournament beating Falls City 6-4 in the first round, falling to Silver Lake in the semifinals 7-6 and taking third place with a forfeit win over Royal Valley. For Royal Valley, they went 1-2, after winning their first round game against Doniphan County 3-2 in nine innings, they fell to Rock Creek 7-3 and then forfeited to Seneca last night.
In the championship, it was all Silver Lake, as Tyler Brown threw a one-hitter for a five inning 8-0 win over Rock Creek. Silver Lake beat Lansing 11-5 in the first round, Seneca in the semi's 7-6 and then took the Doniphan County tournament championship with the 8-0 win over Rock Creek.
Seneca is now 13-4 with the forfeit win and will continue their season tonight against Sabetha at home at 8:00pm; you can hear the game on Kanzaland radio this evening (92.1 KMZA and 103.9 KNZA) and can listen online (click here). Royal Valley falls to 7-13 on the season and will continue their season on Sunday at home in a double-header versus Frankfort at 2:00 and 4:00pm.
