A Whiting woman has filed for the 1st District Kansas Senate Seat.
Marje Cochren is challenging incumbent Dennis Pyle of rural Hiawatha for the Republican nomination.
Pyle is seeking his third 4-year term.
Cochren is a former Jackson Heights school board member.
She was not immediately available for comment.
Candidates have until noon, Monday to file.
