The Auburn Chamber of Commerce is requesting items for a public display of service uniforms and memorabilia from 9 a-m to noon at the Senior Center, on Memorial Day which in Monday, May 28th. The public is invited to tour the display at no charge. This event is in conjunction with the traditional Memorial Day tribute to veteran’s.
Items for the display may be brought to the Auburn Senior Center at 8:30 a-m the morning of the event, or may be dropped off at the Auburn Chamber of Commerce during regular business hours 10 a-m to 3 p-m Monday – Friday, May 21st through 25th. Each display should be accompanied by a short, type-written description of the items displayed. Any person wishing to display items that would like further information is encouraged to contact the Auburn Chamber of Commerce for details at (402) 274-3521.
Thank you cards for current active military service men and women may be signed at the Memorial Day service as well. Members of the Auburn Boy Scouts will be on hand to coordinate the thank you cards, and postage fees will be via free will donation at their booth.
During the traditional ceremony, beginning at 10 a-m on Memorial Day, Belles a Pealing, a women’s a capella group from Nebraska City, will be providing entertainment, veterans lost within the past year will be acknowledged, and other speeches and acknowledgements will take place.
Over 800 flags honoring local veterans will be on display throughout the day at Legion Memorial Park.
