Two area residents charged in connection with an officer assault case in Doniphan County have waived their preliminary hearings.
19-year-old Antonio Clayter of Atchison and 18-year-old Callie Percival of Pawnee City were bound over to Doniphan County District Court this week.
Clayter is charged with seven felony counts—including aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer. He is also charged with a misdemeanor count of criminal trespass.
Percival is charged with a felony count of obstructing official duty and misdemeanor battery.
Arraignment is set for June 27th before District Judge Jim Patton.
The charges stem from an incident on March 6th in a dorm room on the Highland Community College campus.
Clayter is accused of assaulting Highland officer Arthur Buckingham while he was attempting to arrest him. Buckingham was hospitalized after suffering a fractured left shoulder.
A co-defendant in the case, 19-year-old Jonathan Ogletree of Atchison, pleaded no contest last month to an amended charge of obstructing official duty, along with battery and criminal trespass.
He was given a suspended jail sentence and placed on 18-months supervised probation.
