A Leavenworth woman has been convicted of defrauding the Kansas Medicaid program of nearly $6,000

Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt says 33-year-old Margaret Scott pleaded no contest Friday in Leavenworth County District Court to making a false claim to the Medicaid program.

Schmidt said Scott submitted timesheets claiming to provide personal care attendant services to a Medicaid beneficiary after the beneficiary had actually passed away.

Sentencing is set for June 22nd. Upon sentencing, Scott will be ordered to pay $5,969 restitution to the Kansas Medicaid Program.

The case was investigated by the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud and Abuse Division.
