The Hiawatha City Commission Monday evening approved the re-appointment of officials to city positions.
Bill Roland was reappointed as fire chief; Don Cashman and associates as city attorney; Mike Riley as municipal court judge; Vivian Constable as city clerk; and Debbie Parker as city treasurer.
The re-appointments, approved a 4-0 vote, are for a two-year term. Commissioner Vicki Denton was absent.
The commission also appointed Evans Woehlecke as interim police chief until a new police chief is hired.
It was announced at last week’s meeting that Woehlecke was stepping down as police chief in order to spend more time with his family and would not be seeking reappointment to the position he’s held for 12 years.
Woehlecke plans to continue with the police department as an officer and agreed to serve as interim chief until a permanent replacement is hired.
