The Jackson County Commission has agreed to allocate additional funding to the Denison Ball Association.
Representatives of the Ball Association met with the commission Monday to request additional funds to purchase a new cooler for their concession stand.
Marcy Martin said the cooler went out last year. She asked if the association could get $8,000 in additional funds.
Commissioners said they thought the request was too large. However, they did vote to allocate the association an additional $2,500 with the funds to be divided between the Parks and Recreation fund and the Special Alcohol fund.
The commission had previously allocated $2,500 to the Denison Ball Association.
In other business, Kevin and Angie Rawlings appeared with Attorney Dick Lake to ask that the commission reconsider a request for $5,000 in economic development funds for their restaurant All Around Sweets and Eats in Holton.
Angie Rawlings said she felt they had submitted a good plan outlining how funds would be spent.
The commission didn't take any action on the request.
