The Holton School Board moves forward with a 1-point-6-million dollar construction plan, now hiring a construction manager while moving forward with the necessary lease/purchase plan.
Hired to oversee the work, which includes razing one building then constructing another, is JE Dunn Construction, of Topeka, at a contract cost of 199-thousand-800-dollars.
NSP Architectural, of Overland Park, was previously contracted for design work.
The construction project, planned to begin in June, will include razing the district building that houses art, family and consumer science and the wrestling gym.
It will then be replaced, in the same location, with a new building.
Alternative measures were exhausted in the past, following a thorough inspection of the building, when it was found that repairs would be useless due to foundational issues.
