The Jackson County Commission has allocated $93,000 in economic development funds to the Jackson County Fair Association to finish the building at the new fairgrounds, just south of Holton.
The commission took the action Monday after three members of the Fair Association met with the commission to discuss plans for the new fairgrounds and finishing the building.
The Fair Association says the Northeast Kansas Heritage Complex will provide a venue to host horse shows, livestock shows, rodeo’s and many other agricultural events.
The commission also approved the allocation of $3,000 out of the economic development funds to be applied toward the printing of promotional materials about Jackson County.
Holton/Jackson County Chamber of Commerce Director Jamie Claycamp told the commission the Tourism Council needs 15-hundred pieces of promotional material for an Expo at Fort Riley.
Claycamp said the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation has allocated $500 to help offset the cost of promotional materials.
