New Hiawatha Police Officer Chris Blanchard (left) is sworn in by Hiawatha City Clerk Vivian Constable.
A new Hiawatha Police officer is on the job. 27-year-old Chris Blanchard began work March 1st with the police department. Blanchard previously served as an officer with the Carbondale Police Department. Carbondale is located south of Topeka. He graduated from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center in 2010. Prior to the job in Carbonale, Blanchard worked for three years with the Shawnee County Department of Corrections. He says it’s a blessing to join the Hiawatha Police Department to expand his experience in law enforcement. In his spare time, Blanchard says he enjoys golfing, relaxing by watching a good movie, spending time with friends, riding motorcycles, fishing and camping.
