As mandated by federal law, Jefferson County joins other counties across the nation in identifying community health concerns, in order to put measures in place to address them. On Tuesday, community insight will be collected from residents of Valley Falls.
Beth Brown, RN, is both Administrator and Health Officer at the Jefferson County Health Department.
She says a two part plan to comply with the mandate is underway, starting with a Community Health Assessment(Play Audio :31 seconds)
Brown says the assessment will allow the identification of health issues that will then be addressed in the county, focused Tuesday on the community of Valley Falls in particular(Play Audio :22 seconds)
Earlier, as the first phase in the process, a Education: Action, and Leadership committee was formed(Play Audio :15 seconds)
This coming Tuesday evening, Brown says the committee wants to hear from the public, and what health related concerns might exist(Play Audio :21 seconds)
Tuesday evening's meeting will begin at 6:00 in the Kendall State Bank Community Room in Valley Falls.
Brown says additional meetings, in other Jefferson County Communities, are planned for the near future, with more information, and input, to be collected, eventually to benefit the county on a whole.
