Work resumed this week on the Seneca Main Street reconstruction project.
The nearly $1.6 million project calls for the reconstruction of three blocks of the city’s brick Main Street from 3rd to 6th Streets, along with new concrete sidewalks, curbs and gutters. Seventy-five percent of the project cost is being funded by a grant through the Kansas Department of Transportation.
Work began on the project last August and was halted by mid-November so the construction didn’t interfere with downtown merchants during the holiday season.
Main Street businesses were presented last week with a revised construction schedule.
City Administrator Tammi Haverkamp says efforts are focused on completing the work as quickly as possible with the least amount of inconvenience to business owners and the community ( play audio )
Depending on the weather, the project is projected to be completed by June 1st.
Bryant and Bryant Construction of Halstead is the primary contractor on the project.
