During a short meeting this ( Monday ) morning, the Hiawatha City Commission approved a new ambulance service contract. The contract is with Duke Koerperich, owner of Town and Country EMS.
Koerperich has purchased the ambulance service from long-time owners/operators Jim and Lana Reigle, who operated under the name Town and Country Ambulance Service.
The Brown County Commission also approved the contract today ( Monday ), which is for a five-year period running from March 1st of this year through February 28th, 2017.
It’s similar to the previous contract with Town and Country Ambulance Service.
Under the contract, the county will provide an annual subsidy of $49,950 and city will provide an annual subsidy of $28,900 to Town and County EMS.
In other business, the commission approved deed restrictions for a lot in the Longfellow Subdivision.
City Administrator Lynne Ladner said the Hiawatha Foundation for Economic Development is interested in selling the lot located at the west corner of Lodge Road and Morrill Avenue to a potential medical business...( play audio )
