Beginning as a hopeful goal, the Little Hands Childcare Center in Hiawatha is now a reality, and the public will now have a chance to see the facility up close.
That will happen during an open house planned for Sunday, February 26th.
Board President Fonda Lafrenz says that will include the opportunity to meet the director, Robyn Tollefson(Play Audio :18 seconds)
Community members, friends and families are invited to the open house, which will include a tour of the facility, at 200 East Lodge Road, in Hiawatha.
The open house will run from 3:00 until 5:00 that afternoon.
The idea for Little Hands began when child care was identified as a need in the Hiawatha community, and the board, to oversee the plan, formed in 2007 to make it a reality.
The funds, to make the child care center a reality, have been generated through a number of sources.
The application process has been underway for families wanting to enroll their children at Little Hands Childcare, which will serve children 2 weeks of age to 12 years old.
An exact opening date is not yet set, pending final review by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, leading to a state license.
That could happen by the end of the month.
