Two HCC Students Honored
Two Highland Community College students are honored for their academic accomplishments.
Rodney Steinlage of Seneca and Devin Shaffer of Sabetha were among forty-nine community college scholars honored during an award ceremony February 16th in Topeka.
These scholars have been named to the 2012 All-Kansas Academic Team, sponsored by the international headquarters of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, the Kansas Association of Community College Trustees, and the Kansas Council of Community College Presidents.
Steinlage, the son of Gerard and Mary Beth Steinlage of Corning, will use his award to study wind energy technology at Kansas State University next year.
The son of Pete and Amber Schuetz of Sabetha, Shaffer will attend the University of Kansas to study interior architecture.
The group of outstanding community college students was recognized by Kansas Lt. Governor Dr. Jeff Colyer in an award ceremony that also draws educators and lawmakers each year. Each scholar was selected by his or her own community college for the statewide academic team.
