The Sabetha City Commission has agreed to begin the process for the closure of a street and alley.
City Administrator Doug Allen informed commissioners Monday of a request from Danny Kellenberger to close and vacate 13th Street between Iowa and Florida and also close and vacate the alley in block 4 of the Slossen Brothers addition between 13th and 14th Streets.
Following discussion, it was the consensus of the commission for Allen to begin the legal paperwork to accomplish the closing of the street and alley.
In other business, Police Chief Robert Wahwasuck updated commissioners on recent police department activities.
Wahwasuck said Officer Jacob Hout has passed his physical examination and will take the psychological examination later this week. Officer Hout is scheduled to begin his training at the Kansas Law Enforcement Academy in March.
Wahwasuck said Officer Naz Wilcock has been accepted into supervisor training in Phoenix, Arizona at the end of February. The Leading by Legacy training is paid for and sponsored by the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
