A new resident inspector has been selected for the Cooper Nuclear plant near Brownville. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission says Chris Henderson has been selected to fill the position,
Henderson joined the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in February 2010 as a Reactor Operations Engineer in the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation. He was selected in June to participate in the Resident Inspector Development Program in Region Four, where he worked as a Project Engineer in the Division of Reactor Projects.
Prior to joining the NRC, Henderson served in the U.S. Navy aboard the Los Angeles class attack submarine U-S-S Annapolis, based in Groton, Connecticut, as well as at Commander Submarine Group Seven in Yokosuna, Japan.
Henderson has both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering from Kansas State University.
All commercial nuclear power plants in the United States have at least two NRC resident inspectors. Henderson joins senior resident inspector Jeff Josey at Cooper Nuclear. They serve as the NRC’s eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections and monitoring significant work projects.
