NEK-CAP, Inc. Head Start has been awarded funding to provide a 6.5 hour school day and 160 days of school in Sabetha, Kansas at our Nemaha-Sabetha County Head Start Center. Head Start, a nationally known research-based preschool program, is a center-based program serving three to five-year olds. This program is available at no cost to those who are income-eligible. Head Start programs support children’s growth and development in positive learning environments through a variety of services including social skills and school readiness skills building, health and developmental screenings, nutritious meals, oral health and mental health, and family well-being – strengthening child and parent relationships.

Eligibility is based on income as set by the federal government. NEK-CAP, Inc. provides Head Start in Atchison, Brown, Jackson, Jefferson, Leavenworth, Marshall, Nemaha and Pottawatomie Counties in Northeast Kansas. NEK-CAP, Inc. reserves 10% of its enrollment for children with disabilities.
