Cell Phone Repairman Accused of Stealing Pictures

(KAIR)--A cell phone is left at an Atchison business for repair, and while in the possession of the technician, personal images on the phone are stolen.

That's the allegation made by Atchison Police, leading to Thursday's arrest of 42-year-old Jason Seetin. “An investigation was initiated this week, after a 21-year-old victim reported images from a phone were unlawfully obtained while the phone was in the possession of another,” Police Chief Mike Wilson tells MSC News. “This would have happened December the 29th. It would have happened at a business located in the 100 block of North 8th, and the phone would have been left there for some maintenance work.”

The business is identified as All American Pawn, where Seetin performed cell phone repair work.

No other victims are yet named, as Wilson says the focus of the arrest is placed solely on the alleged December crime.

He says the case has been forwarded to the Atchison County Attorney's Office for review, and the investigation is ongoing.

Seetin, who faces a charge of breach of privacy, is currently free on a personal recognizance bond of $7,500.
