(KMZA)--Efforts to establish a Vo-Ag program at the Nemaha Central High School advance.
USD 115 Superintendent Darrel Kohlman updated the Board of Education this week on the progress.
Kohlman said he will soon post the teaching position opening on Kansas Teaching Jobs website. Board members also suggested that he send
notice of the opening to colleges who offer a Vo-Ag degree in the four contiguous states.
Kohlman said one of the next steps should be to establish a committee that will pursue grant possibilities, donations and local businesses for support. Board members Ilene Enneking, Joe Reitz, and Gary Niehues volunteered to serve on the committee. Kohlman asked that these three think of community members that maybe interested in serving on the committee as well.
In review of the Strategic Plan, Kohlman reported that two architects from Horst, Terrill & Karst had done a walk through in the high school building and will develop a recommendation of possible renovations. He also reported that two contractors have picked up the information to bid the addition to the bus barn.
Kohlman also presented updated enrollment numbers. The number of students in the elementary & middle school is almost the same as last year at 386. The high school is down slightly from last year from 247 to 236 students.
