(KAIR)--A Leavenworth girl is dead, killed Monday afternoon when the UTV she was riding in crashed in Andrew County, Missouri.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol identifies the victim as 8-year-old Alexis Walker.
The Patrol's report states that her 9-year-old sister, Kayden, was driving the utility vehicle at the time of the noon-hour wreck.
She lost control of the vehicle on County Road 136, and overcorrected, causing the vehicle to overturn.
Kayden was transported to Mosaic Lifecare in Saint Joseph for the treatment of what the Patrol identifies as serious injuries.
The Patrol says neither child was wearing a safety device.
KQ2-TV reports the grandfather of the two girls was traveling with them, but was not hurt in the wreck.
