According to Atchison County Sheriff Jack Laurie, Douglas Peak, of Huron, reported the theft of his vehicle from his residence at 306 Vine Street on Tuesday afternoon. When deputies arrived, they discovered the home had been broken into.

Along with the vehicle, three firearms were taken as well as several other items.

Laurie said the firearms taken were a shotgun, AR-15 rifle and a hunting rifle.

The break-in is believed to have happened sometime between late Monday afternoon and 4:30 Tuesday afternoon.

The vehicle was later recovered by the Topeka Police Department around 5:00 Thursday morning.

Laurie says the investigation is ongoing, and they do not have any suspects at this time.
