(KAIR)--Special honors for a locally based company, with a bourbon produced by MGP Ingredients earning an “outstanding” rating from a prominent industry publication.
According to a press release from Atchison-based MGP, the company's Metze's Select, a limited edition Indiana straight bourbon, earned a rating of 91 from Whisky Advocate, a widely read spirits industry publication.
The rating was published in the winter 2015 issue, with Whisy Advocate calling the bourbon “outstanding” and “distinctive.”
According to the press release, of all the bourbons rated by the publication over the past two years, less than 25-percent received a rating above 90.
MGP President and CEO Gus Griffin calls Metze's Select a celebration of the company's legacy of making world class whiskey's, and says MGP is pleased to receive the rating, which he says is recognition of the company's expertise in distillation, maturation and formulation.
The bourbon is produced at MGP's Lawrenceburg, Indiana distillery, and was released in October.
