(KNZA)--A new short-term welding program is being launched at Highland Community College.
According to a press release from the Kansas Department of Commerce, the Industrial Welding Job Skills Training Program is a pilot project sponsored by the Department of Commerce and Summit Truck Bodies.
The program is intended to connect economic and workforce development through the Workforce Aligned with Industry Demand initiative, and will deliver training that incorporates hands-on experience in the welding shop, including various components of machine technology.
The training curriculum, developed under the guidance of Summit Truck Bodies, will prepare graduates for entry-level welding positions with the company. It will additionally provide participants with an opportunity to earn a credential from the American Welding Society, as well as five college credits upon completion of the program.
Tuition funding is available for qualifying adults for a limited time, and enrollment information can be obtained by contacting the Kansas Department of Commerce.
