(KMZA)--A vacant Seneca City Council Seat has been filled.
Named to serve the 3rd Ward is is resident Mike Stallbaumer.
He was in attendance during Wednesday evening's meeting of the Council, and was introduced as an applicant by City Administrator Mike Rehder.
Addressing the city leaders, Stallbaumer stated he would be happy to serve the Seneca Community.
A motion was made to place him into the open seat, and once it was approved by the Council, Stallbaumer was sworn in.
His appointment to the seat followed a dry spell of applicants seeking the position.
The previous, and only applicant, Jim Schmitz, withdrew his application last month.
Jim Ronnebaum had previously won the Council seat with write-in votes during the April 7th general election, but turned it down.
Previous 3rd Ward Councilman Galen Niehues did not seek another term.
The 3rd Ward includes the area south of Main Street in Seneca.
