(KNZA)--School will literally be cooler for Horton Elementary School students of USD 430, with the Board of Education for the South Brown County Schools this week approving the purchase of new air conditioning units.
Selected to supply two forty-ton units and one twenty-ton unit was Waser Plumbing and Heating, at a total cost of $178,500.
That bid was among a total of five received, including second choice Warman Construction/Pierce Heating and Cooling.
Following questions of representatives for the two companies, the Board of Education ultimately made their selection, approving the purchase on a 4-3 vote.
The decision was reached during a special meeting, which came days after the issue was discussed by the board during a special session on June 17th.
At that time, the board voted 3-2 to accept a bid from Warman. However, due to the lack of a quorum vote, the decision was not approved.
