(MSC News)--Strong thunderstorms, accompanied by heavy thunder and wicked lightning, rocked areas of the local region during the early morning hours of Friday.
Among the damage from the storms was the loss of a historic tree in Arrington. According to local resident Linda Curtis, the tree has apparently stood since the 1800’s, planted when the unincorporated Atchison County community had a hotel.
More showers and thunderstorms are predicted for Friday afternoon along with gusty winds and cooler temperatures but humid conditions.
