(KMZA)--The Marysville school district will hold a series of eight public meetings over the next month to discuss district facility needs and a potential bond proposal.
Superintendent Bill Mullins says it will be the first opportunity for patrons to share their thoughts about a potential bond issue that could go before voters as early as this November.
At the meetings, Mullins said the results of a Facility Needs Assessment conducted by the school district’s architectural firm, Manhattan-based Ebert Mayo Design Group, will be discussed.
The firm is recommending that about $22.5 million in immediate improvements be made to the district’s schools. Among improvements recommended are a new locker room/storm shelter at the Marysville Elementary School, an auxiliary gym for the Marysville Junior-Senior High School building and new classroom space at the elementary and junior-senior high buildings.
Mullins says the school board will use the feedback to decide whether to move forward with putting a bond proposal on the ballot. If the school board chooses to pursue the bond proposal, additional meetings will be held in September to share more information about the individual improvement projects.
