Plea Entered in Brown Co Child Sex Case

Dallas Bond

(KNZA)--A Horton man facing child sex related charges in two counties has pleaded no contest to charges in Brown County.

Brown County Attorney Kevin Hill says 20-year-old Dallas Bond entered the plea Monday afternoon to charges of kidnapping, sexual exploitation of a child, identity fraud and felony theft.

Sentencing was scheduled for July 6th.

Hill says the four count amended complaint was filed May 20th. Bond had originally been charged in January with five counts following an investigation into alleged sex offenses involving a child born in 2003.

Authorities say Bond took the child, under false pretenses, to a Holton motel room last August where the alleged sexual offenses were committed.  Hill said Bond assumed the identity of a female EMT worker to carry out his fraudulent scheme.

Hill said the sexual exploitation of a child charge relates to the possession of graphic digital images of young children engaged in sexually explicit conduct that Bond acknowledged downloading to his computer from a Russian website.

Bond  was also charged with stealing several items from the Brown County Sheriff’s Department where he formerly worked as a dispatcher.

Bond faces six felony counts in Jackson County--including rape.  Jackson County Attorney Shawna Miller says Bond is scheduled to enter a plea in the Jackson County case July 10th.

Hill says the Brown County convictions set the stage for a possible sentence of nearly 50 years under the state’s sentencing guidelines in Jackson County in the event Bond is convicted on the rape charge.
