(KAIR)--A preliminary hearing date has been set in the case of an Atchison man accused of sex crimes against a minor child.
37-year-old Charles Philips appeared in Atchison County District Court Monday afternoon, where Judge Martin Asher set a hearing date for July 7th. The preliminary hearing comes after a plea deal could not be reached between County Attorney Jerry Kuckelman and Philips' attorney, John Kurth.
Philips was arrested in January after a police investigation showed that he allegedly sexually abused the female victim multiple times over a three year period, starting in the fall of 2011 when she was 11-years-old.
