(MSC News)--Individual income tax receipts in Kansas beat expectations for May by $12.2 million and was $135.6 million more than what was collected in May 2014.
The figures were released Friday by the Kansas Department of Revenue.
Overall tax receipts were $5.8 million lower than expected, pulled down by weaker than expected corporate income and sales tax receipts which reflected a downward national trend. Sales and use tax receipts were $9.5 million below expectations and corporate income taxes were $3.3 million lower.
While corporate income tax receipts are not meeting current expectations, the state has collected $25.6 million more in May compared to the same month last year.
