(KLZA)-- The USDA and Nebraska Department of Education are teaming up with the Falls City Area Ministerial Association for the Summer Food Service Program, which offers every child a free lunch, Monday through Friday.
Beginning Monday June 1, St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at 20th and Towle Streets in Falls City will serve a hot lunch to all kids 18 and under. The doors will open at 11:45 a-m and meals will be served from noon – 12:45 p-m. Children three years of age and younger must be able to eat regular children’s food and be under the supervision of their caregiver.
There is no registration required to eat. Adult meals will be served at a cost of $3.50.
In Falls City the Summer Food Service Program will run through Friday, July 31. For more information on the Falls City program contact St. Paul’s Church at 402-245-3828.
Anyone who would like to volunteer to help may also contact the church.
In addition to the Falls City program, the Auburn Public School is sponsoring a Summer Food Service Program in Auburn at the Calvert Elementary School at 2103 O Street. Lunch will be served in Auburn from 11:30 a-m until 1 p-m.
In Tecumseh, the Johnson County Central Public School will sponsor the Summer Food Service Program at the school at 358 North 6th Street. The hours for meals at the school in Tecumseh will be from 11 a-m until 12:30 p-m.
This year The Summer Food Service Program, which is one of the USDA’s Child Nutrition Program is expected to provide more than 200-million meals to children. In Nebraska there are more than 60 sponsors and almost 270 sites across the state to help ensure children have nutritious meals throughout the summer months.
