(KAIR)--A Liberty, Missouri man was arrested late Tuesday morning after a traffic stop in Atchison lead to a short foot pursuit.
Police Chief Mike Wilson says the incident took place after an officer working the Special Traffic Enforcement Program attempted to stop a truck in the area of Third Street and Division. He says “that truck attempted to flee onto Fourth Street...went about a block where the driver suddenly pulled over, bailed out of the vehicle, and ran...about a block and was taken into custody after a foot pursuit; and what the officers discovered back at the pickup truck...was a number of items that were taken in a burglary during the night on Monday night from the 1800 block of Cardinal Court in the northern part of the city. It was a house that was under construction that had been forced open and about $2,000 worth of items had been taken.”
33-year-old Jonathan Hammer was booked into the Atchison County Jail on charges including burglary, theft, criminal damage to property, driving while suspended, and obstructing the legal process.
