(KAIR)--An Atchison woman was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon, accused of committing welfare fraud.
Atchison County Attorney Jerry Kuckelman says 53-year-old Brenda Castillo-Dominguez allegedly committed the fraud between August 2009 and June of 2013 when she allegedly received approximately $20,500 in benefits from the state of Kansas that she was not entitled to.
Castillo-Dominguez was booked into the Atchison County Jail on one count of felony welfare fraud. She was later released after posting a bond of $15,000.
Kuckelman says that if convicted, Castillo-Dominguez could be incarcerated anywhere from six months to seventeen months.
