(KAIR)--An Effingham man, accused of arson and criminal damage to property in two separate cases, has agreed to a plea deal.
32-year-old Glen Hewitt made an appearance in Atchison County District Court Friday morning, where he plead guilty to one count of felony arson and one count of misdemeanor criminal damage to property. In exchange for the plea, a charge of sexual exploitation of a child in a third case, was dropped.
Sentencing has been set for May 15th.
Hewitt was arrested last month after an investigation by the Atchison County Sheriff's Department and the Kansas State Fire Marshall concluded that he had intentionally set fire to a residence in Effingham on March 5th. The fire came one day after he slashed four tires on his girlfriend's vehicle.
Hewitt remains in the Atchison County Jail, held on $50,000 bond.
