(KMZA)--A Marshall County bridge project is set to start this week.
The Kansas Department of Transportation says the two K-87 bridges, located just north of the K-9 junction in Marshall County, will be replaced, with both the northbound and southbound lanes that cross over the double bridges to be closed to all traffic during the duration of the project. That's set to happen Tuesday, with a marked detour route being put in place, taking motorists west on K-99 and then north to U.S. 36 to access K-87.
Drivers should expect delays, and must use alternate routes as long as the roadway over the bridges remains closed.
The project is scheduled to wrap-up in early September if weather allows.
Klaver Construction, based in Kingman, Kansas, is the primary contractor on the $1.5 million dollar project.
