Christopher McNeal
(KAIR)--A preliminary hearing date has been set for an Atchison man accused of child abuse.
34-year-old Christopher McNeal appeared in Atchison County District Court Monday afternoon for a status hearing. His attorney informed Judge Martin Asher that plea agreement negotiations had come to a standstill and the state had withdrawn any plea offers.
Asher then set a preliminary hearing date for May 12th.
McNeal was arrested in February in Clay County, Missouri after an investigation by the Atchison Police Department determined that he allegedly caused serious injuries to the head and abdomen of a 2-year-old child.
McNeal remains in the Atchison County Jail, held on a $100,000 bond.
