Disability Voting Machine Reimbursement for Pawnee & Johnson Counties
04/09/2015

LINCOLN – Forty-eight county election offices will receive reimbursements totaling over $48,000 from Secretary of State John Gale to help cover the costs associated with the use of voter disability equipment during the 2014 general election. Those funds are provided to the Secretary of State’s office through a federal grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as part of the Help America Vote Act of 2002.

AutoMARK machines allow voters with visual impairments and other disabilities to cast their ballots privately and without assistance as early voters or at the precinct on Election Day. The equipment is available to other voters who wish to use it as well.

Checks will be received by the counties this month. Counties receiving funds include:  Johnson, $750 and Pawnee, $1,000.
