(KAIR)--The city of Atchison is making improvements to the restroom facilities at the Lion's Pool, bringing them up to date with standards set forth by the Americans with Disabilities Act.
City Public Works and Utilities Director Justin Pregont says the current facilities do not meet the standards because they “do not allow someone in a wheelchair, or someone who is dealing with small children the appropriate space that has been designated through the Americans with Disabilities Act to really function up to those standards.”
A small addition will be built onto the existing structure that will have a small, but accessible restroom facility.
Pregont adds that construction on the new addition was started Tuesday morning, and is hoped to be completed before the pool opens for the season.
