(KAIR)--The Atchison Housing Authority, in conjunction with the city of Atchison and the Kansas Department of Agriculture will hold a presentation next week for anyone interested in knowing more about bedbugs.
City Code Enforcement Officer Curtis Wheeler says the meeting is meant to inform people about the bug. Topics covered at the meeting will include the biology of the bedbug, symptoms of it's bite, how to spot a bedbug, and how to treat an infestation with the proper pesticides.
Wheeler adds that while the city as a whole is not infested with the bugs, some small areas do have some problems. He says “we have been made aware of certain places within town...complexes, or multifamily dwellings that are infested with them. Anytime you have that within a town, there is a real potential for that to spread out.”
Wheeler says that bedbugs can be spread fairly easily, no matter the environment. All it takes is for one person to have the bug on them, and it can spread to other people.
The informational meeting is scheduled to take place on Thursday afternoon, March 19th, in the conference room of the Atchison Housing Authority, located at 103 South Seventh Street.
