(KNZA)--Burn bans remain in place for both Brown and Doniphan Counties.
That comes as dry conditions continue across the local region.
The danger is realized in the number of grass fires Brown County fire crews have responded to in recent days, with Sheriff John Merchant reporting more than 17 on Saturday alone. No injuries are reported, but crews were kept rushing from one fire to another, working to protect property and structures.
The burn bans went into effect Saturday, with Brown County's to remain in place until further notice.
Doniphan County officials on Monday decided to leave their ban in place until Friday.
Atchison County on Monday lifted the burn ban that was in effect for the weekend.
In Jackson County, no burn ban has yet been issued. However, the fire dangers were apparent over the weekend, with Sheriff Tim Morse reporting that fire crews responded to 26 grass fires.
