(KLZA)- Three bids for a Richardson County Law Enforcement Center addition and renovation project were opened during Tuesday’s meeting of the Richardson County Commissioners.
Kurt Fields with Prochaska & Associates reviewed the bids with Commissioners David Sickel, Jim Davidson and James Standerford. The project would renovate former National Guard Armory on the west edge of Falls City and include some additional room.
The lowest base bid was $3,395,000 submitted by A-H-R-S Construction of Bern, Kansas. An alternate for renovating office space in the building was $312,000 with three other possible alternates included the total bid was $3,736,000 with a time frame of 455 calendar days.
Two firms from St. Joseph, Missouri submitted bids, E.L. Crawford Construction submitted a base bid of $3,499,900 with the office renovation bid of $335,000 and a total bid price of $3,865,400. They had the best projected time frame of 300 days for the project.
Lawhon Construction Company submitted a base bid of $3,509,000 with the office alternate bid of $328,000 and a total bid including all alternates of $3,891,775.
Kurt Fields thanked the representatives of the bidders who attended the bid opening.
The Prochaska group will review the bids and come back to the Richardson County Board with a formal recommendation, possibly as soon as next week. Fields said the company would want to talk to Sheriff Don Pounds to get his input. Fields also said he feels going forward with the alternates in the proposal were worth doing now.
