(KAIR)--A special ceremony, recognizing an Atchison Police Officer killed in the line of duty, has been set.
The Kansas Department of Transportation has announced that the signage to commemorate a stretch of K-7 Highway as the “Sergeant David Enzbrenner Memorial Highway” will be held Tuesday afternoon.
State lawmakers in April of last year approved a bill that dedicates the stretch of K-7, from the north city limits of Atchison north to the U.S. Highway 36 junction in Troy, to Enzbrenner. Governor Sam Brownback signed the bill a month after it was approved.
Enzbrenner was shot to death in December of 2011 while assisting with the delivery of a nuisance notice in Atchison.
The unveiling ceremony is scheduled for 1:30 Tuesday afternoon at Elizabeth's, located at 121 North 5th Street, in Atchison.
