Accused Murderer Waives Preliminary Hearing

(KNZA)--A St. Joseph man charged in a shooting last month that left a Troy man dead and his ex-wife seriously injured waived his preliminary hearing Wednesday.

The St. Joseph News Press reports the case against 34-yer-old Daron Simpson was bound over to Buchanan County Circuit Judge Daniel Kellogg, with an appearance scheduled later this month.

Simpson is charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of 36-year-old Andrew Clary at a residence north of Faucett early January 24th.  He’s also charged with felony first-degree assault for the wounding of  Amanda Simpson, who survived the shooting.

Daron Simpson turned himself into authorities shortly after the shootings.

He remains in the Buchanan County Jail, held without bond.
